In a thrilling automotive saga, the team at Mat Armstrong took on the challenge of resurrecting a Rolls-Royce Wraith with a laundry list of faults. From a mangled frame to structural damage in the boot floor and rear quarter, the Wraith was a true fixer-upper. With parts costing nearly £9,000, they decided to roll up their sleeves and tackle the repairs themselves, opting for genuine Rolls-Royce structural parts to restore the luxury vehicle to its former glory.
Diving headfirst into the intricate repair process, they meticulously dismantled the damaged sections, carefully drilling out spot welds and utilizing a belt sander to separate panels. The team's attention to detail shone through as they replaced rivets and used panel Bond to seamlessly attach the new parts, ensuring a factory-quality finish. From cleaning and welding to priming, sealing, and painting, no stone was left unturned in the quest to revive the Wraith.
With the front structural repair successfully completed, the team shifted their focus to the rear quarter, where they faced the challenge of salvaging the quarter panel. Collaborating with Allied Automotive, they worked their magic to align and repair the rear quarter, replacing damaged parts and utilizing a profile tool to manipulate the steel back into shape. Determining that the rear quarter was salvageable, albeit with the need to replace a structural component underneath, they pressed on with their mission to breathe new life into the iconic vehicle.
As the restoration journey progressed, the team meticulously reassembled the front of the car, meticulously fitting the grill and bumper. Intriguingly, they discovered an LED strip and a sensor for adaptive cruise control within the grill, showcasing the vehicle's advanced technology. With precision and expertise, they seamlessly integrated these components, ensuring a flawless alignment that echoed Rolls-Royce's commitment to luxury and craftsmanship.
