In this thrilling episode of Mat Armstrong's channel, the team takes on the daunting task of rebuilding the gearbox of a Ferrari F430. With no instruction manual to guide them, they dive headfirst into the challenge. But little do they know, this Ferrari has some serious issues lurking beneath its sleek exterior.
The first hurdle they face is connecting the coolant lines and ensuring that the system is properly filled. With the engine located at the back and the radiators at the front, the coolant has to travel a long distance. But the team perseveres, making sure all the hoses are connected and tackling the tricky task of filling the coolant lines. They even use a vacuum filler to ensure there are no leaks in the system. And to their relief, the coolant holds vacuum, a sign of success.
But their joy is short-lived as they encounter a misfire in the engine. Determined to get to the bottom of the issue, they connect the OBD port to diagnose the problem. However, instead of troubleshooting further, they decide to continue putting the engine back together, connecting the drive shafts and installing a Capristo exhaust system. The sound is deafening, but it's a small price to pay for the thrill of driving this beast.
But just when they think they're in the clear, they discover an oil leak from the rocker cover and notice that the wheels spin even in neutral. It's a perplexing mystery that leaves them scratching their heads. Undeterred, they put the car on a lift and start it, and to their surprise, the wheels remain still. It's a moment of relief, but their troubles are far from over.
They soon realize that there's an airlock in the cooling system, possibly caused by a faulty thermostat. With quick thinking, they remove the thermostat and run the car without it. It's a risky move, but they're willing to take the chance. And as the car runs to temperature, they monitor it closely, hoping that their efforts will pay off in the end. Will they be able to conquer the challenges that lie ahead and get this Ferrari back on the road? Only time will tell.
