Mercedes GL: Updated Design and Features, but Still Sporting Fake Exhausts

The new Mercedes GL has received some updates, but let's be honest, it doesn't look all that different. They've made some changes to the exterior, like new tail lights and a slightly tweaked bumper design. But what really grinds my gears is the fact that they still haven't gotten rid of those fake exhausts. I mean, come on Mercedes, it's 2021, we can spot a fake from a mile away.
Inside, there aren't many changes either. The steering wheel now has touch-sensitive buttons, which might sound fancy, but in reality, they're just awkward to use and can be easily activated by mistake while driving. And don't get me started on the fake leather and fake wood trims. It's like the designers were trying to make the car look luxurious, but ended up making it look like it has leprosy.
But it's not all bad. The driving position is comfortable, with plenty of adjustment options, and the infotainment system has been updated and is easy to use. The backseat offers ample space and the boot is reasonably sized, although it's slightly smaller in the plug-in hybrid version due to the batteries. The car comes with some cool features, like a front view camera, full surround cameras, and even an off-road driving mode.
When it comes to driving, the Mercedes GLE performs well in town. In hybrid mode, it runs smoothly on electric power, but don't expect any mind-blowing acceleration. The air suspension system provides a comfortable ride, although the plug-in hybrid version is a bit heavier than the standard one. Overall, the GLE offers a range of engine options, from plug-in hybrids to diesel and petrol versions, with varying power outputs. But let's face it, most people will probably just run them on the petrol engine anyway.
In conclusion, the new Mercedes GL has some updates, but they're not exactly groundbreaking. The exterior changes are minimal, and the interior still has some questionable design choices. However, it does offer a comfortable driving experience, with good maneuverability and a range of engine options. But if you're looking for a true luxury SUV, you might want to look elsewhere.
