Mat Armstrong, the man with a penchant for speed and a taste for luxury, found himself in a rather unfortunate predicament. His beloved RS6 GT3 suffered a catastrophic engine failure, all because of a simple mistake - using the wrong octane fuel. The result? A gaping hole in the cylinder block, rendering the engine unsalvageable. But Mat, ever the determined petrolhead, refused to give up on his prized possession.
Now faced with the daunting task of finding a new engine, Mat discovered that the RS6 engine he needed was a rare breed in the United States. However, he soon realized that this powerful heart also beat within the S6, RS7, Lamborghini Urus, and Bentley Continental GT. With this knowledge in hand, he managed to track down a secondhand RS7 engine with a mere 28,000 miles on the clock.
But the challenges didn't end there. As Mat and his team began the engine swap, they encountered a rather unexpected hurdle - the wiring harness. You see, the RS7 engine was designed for left-hand drive vehicles, while Mat's RS6 was right-hand drive. This meant that the wiring was shorter on the left-hand drive variant, causing a headache for the team. Undeterred, they painstakingly unplugged and transferred every single wire, ensuring that not a single plug was missed.
With the wiring ordeal behind them, Mat and his crew pressed on, lowering the car onto the subframe and securing it with bolts. But there was still one crucial task remaining - priming the fuel pump. After a series of attempts, including using a Power Probe and siphoning fuel from the tank, they finally managed to drain the contaminated fuel and replace the oil filter.
Now, with the brake calipers installed and the car ready to be filled with fluid, Mat stood on the precipice of victory. His determination and unwavering spirit had brought him to this moment. It was time to turn the key, ignite the engine, and let the roar of the RS7 powerplant fill the air. Mat's journey to resurrect his beloved RS6 GT3 was nearing its triumphant conclusion.
