In this episode of Mighty Car Mods, the boys are about to embark on a truly epic project: modifying a Honda Civic with the ultimate performance engine, the K series. Now, I know what you're thinking, why a Honda Civic? Well, these little cars may not have the most glamorous reputation, but they are a blank canvas for automotive enthusiasts. And with the addition of a K24 engine, this Civic is going to be a force to be reckoned with.
The team managed to get their hands on a Honda Accord from their mate Sprungle, who lives in the Blue Mountains and apparently doesn't wear shoes. The car was in a sad state, covered in mold and filth, but the engine was still good. So, they decided to rescue it and give it a new home in the Civic. With the engine out, the team can now start stripping away all the unnecessary bits and pieces, making room for the K series.
To make this swap happen, the team enlisted the help of Brian from Hasport, the Godfather of all things Honda. Brian provided them with a set of engine mounts specifically designed for the K series engine in the Civic. These mounts ensure that the engine is securely placed in the right spot, allowing for a seamless installation. Along with the mounts, the team also acquired a range of aftermarket parts from Hybrid Racing, including cams, intake manifold, and various other components to make the swap quick and efficient.
With all the parts in hand, the team begins the process of putting the engine back together. They install the K20 oil pump and drag cartel cams, which are expected to give the engine an extra 15 to 25 Vex (that's horsepower in Honda-speak). The attention to detail and precision in this process is crucial, as torque plays a vital role in achieving optimal performance.
What started as a humble Honda Civic is now transforming into a beastly machine, ready to take on the streets with its raw VTEC power. The team is grateful for the expertise and support of Brian, who traveled halfway across the world to be a part of this project. Stay tuned to see how this Honda Civic, once considered a mundane runabout, becomes a true performance car that will leave others in its dust.
