In this episode of CarCraft, the team unveils their monstrous creations: a Godzilla-powered Mustang and an LS-swapped third-gen Camaro. These beasts are ready to take on the road course, but before that, they make their debut at Hot Rod Power Tour West. The Mustang's suspension system impresses with its JRI shocks straight out of Evernham Motorsports, giving it a NASCAR-like feel. The Camaro's narrow A-arm allows for better cornering and the double-ended Ram-assisted steering rack is a sight to behold. The team also discusses the brake kit and the rear suspension with its torque arm and panhard bar setup.
Wiring and plumbing become the next focus as they work on connecting the Holly Terminator X Max wiring harness and the Godzilla control pack. However, they encounter a hurdle with the Godzilla control pack as it hasn't been translated for use with HP tuners software yet. Undeterred, they press on and prepare for Hot Rod Power Tour West, where the Camaro shines with its TMI interior, BBS wheels, and Duralast brakes. The team also takes the opportunity to weigh the cars, with the Mustang sitting at just under 3000 pounds and the Camaro slightly heavier due to the Godzilla motor.
As the cars hit the track, the excitement builds. The Mustang tackles the autocross track with ease, showcasing its balanced chassis and impressive grip. Meanwhile, the Camaro takes on the drag strip, running a mid-13s quarter-mile time. Both cars show great potential, but there's still work to be done in terms of tuning and finishing touches. Stay tuned to MotorTrend's social media channels and hotrod.com for updates on the progress of these incredible machines. It's an exhilarating journey filled with power, performance, and the thrill of the open road.
