In this episode of Mighty Car Mods, the lads are faced with a rather annoying problem: a noisy engine in their beloved Laog. Now, this is not the kind of issue they were hoping to deal with, but alas, the engine sounds like a symphony of clunks and rattles. It doesn't seem to affect the oil pressure or anything crucial, but it's definitely a nuisance that needs to be addressed. So, the inevitable conclusion is that the motor has to come out. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but there's no other way around it. The team needs to figure out if it's a deal breaker or if there's a chance for a simple fix.

The noise has been present since the very first start-up, but it wasn't until they took the car out for a drive that it became more apparent. The guys went through a phase of denial, desperately trying to come up with reasons why the engine couldn't possibly be broken. But deep down, they knew they had to face the truth. There was a noise, and they had to get to the bottom of it. So, they started by checking the basics, like the oil filter and oil supply. They discovered some debris in the filter, which raised some concerns. They also inspected the spark plug, which turned out to be in good condition. With everything seemingly in order, they started the engine again, only to find that the noise was still there, albeit more subtle.

Undeterred, the team decided to do another oil change, hoping that it would make a difference. They cut open a couple of oil filters and found some debris, but nothing too alarming. However, the noise persisted. At this point, they knew that the engine had to be taken out for a closer investigation. With the help of a friend, they removed the rocker cover and inspected it, but nothing obvious caught their eye. Determined to find the source of the noise, they continued to dismantle the engine, piece by piece. Eventually, they discovered that the clearances in the valve train were slightly off. It seemed that resetting the top end could potentially solve the problem. They measured the clearances and found that most were within spec, but a few adjustments were needed. They swapped some buckets to fine-tune the clearances and planned to recheck everything before putting the engine back together.

In summary, the Mighty Car Mods team faced the challenge of a noisy engine in their Laog. Despite their initial denial, they knew they had to tackle the issue head-on. After checking the basics and doing an oil change, the noise persisted, leading them to remove the engine for a more thorough investigation. They found that the clearances in the valve train were slightly off, but with some adjustments, they hoped to reset the top end and eliminate the noise. The team remained determined to solve the problem and get their beloved Laog back on the road.
