In the latest episode of Mighty Car Mods, Marty and the team are embarking on a thrilling adventure to transform his 2-door STI dream into a reality. The journey kicks off with the acquisition of a 2.5 L STI engine, a move that sparks controversy among the so-called "Purity Police." Undeterred, they opt for a factory-built engine from a 2018 STI, dismissing the naysayers and focusing on the project's essence.
To address past track mishaps, the team delves into enhancing oil control with a new sump and baffle, crucial for preventing engine failures during high-performance driving. Rally Sport Design steps in with a modified sump, emphasizing the significance of oil control in modified Subarus. Marty's quest for performance leads him to Japan in pursuit of a rare twin-scroll turbocharger, a vital component to boost engine responsiveness and power delivery.
Back in the workshop, the team meticulously installs the turbo system, complemented by aftermarket parts for optimal performance. A heavy-duty single clutch and chromoly flywheel are chosen to handle the engine's torque demands, ensuring a seamless driving experience. With the engine prepped and turbocharged, Marty's 2-door STI is poised for a new chapter, promising a blend of power, precision, and pure driving pleasure.
