In this riveting episode of BS for Build, the team embarks on a daring mission to resurrect a sunken pontoon yacht through a budget boat build. Picture this: a majestic double-decker pontoon boat adorned with a luxurious hot tub, a true nautical dream come to life. However, as they delved into the construction, challenges emerged. The initial design clashed with practicalities, with stairs obstructing engine access and a problematic swim deck gap.
Undeterred, the team dove headfirst into a redesign frenzy, concocting a solution that involved a cleverly integrated ramp and manual lift for the swim deck due to space constraints. Through meticulous testing of material thicknesses and tolerances, they fine-tuned their plan for the revamped design. A crucial aluminum order from Metal Supermarkets set the stage for the fabrication of aluminum pontoon stairs, meticulously crafted with safety in mind, boasting rounded edges to avert any potential mishaps.
With the stairs conquered, the focus shifted to constructing the swim deck, a critical component of the pontoon yacht's resurrection. A strategic combination of thick and thin wall tubes was employed to strike a delicate balance between strength and weight. The team's attention to detail extended to designing an expansion for the deck's rear, complete with optional bracing for added structural integrity. As the project hurtled towards completion, the BS for Build crew showcased their unwavering determination and ingenuity in the face of daunting challenges, proving that no obstacle is too great when passion and craftsmanship collide on the high seas.
