In this latest installment from the folks at StanceWorks, they delve into the trials and tribulations of transforming a 1981 Ferrari 308 GTBi into a formidable time attack car. Aptly named the 244 GTK, this beast of a machine is not your typical Ferrari. Oh no, they've gone and stuffed a turbocharged Honda K24 engine under the hood. Sacrilege, you say? Well, they beg to differ. This audacious move is all part of their quest to create a Ferrari 308 that not only looks good but performs even better.
But as with any ambitious project, there are bound to be setbacks. And setbacks they have encountered indeed. During a recent race, disaster struck as a rod decided to make a dramatic exit through the engine, leaving a gaping hole in its wake. But fear not, for the team at StanceWorks is not one to be deterred. They see this as an opportunity to learn, to improve, and to come back stronger than ever.
To get to the bottom of this catastrophic failure, the team has enlisted the help of Four Piston Racing, the authority when it comes to K24 engines. They will tear down the engine, inspect every nook and cranny, and determine what went wrong. The goal is to prevent a repeat of this unfortunate incident and get the car back on track in time for the upcoming Superlap Battle at Kota in March.
In the meantime, the team has a laundry list of improvements they plan to make. Swivel fittings will be replaced with non-swivel lines to avoid overheating and potential disasters. The electric turbo sump pump and its associated tank will be eliminated for the sake of simplicity. A surge tank will be added to address fuel starvation issues. And let's not forget the importance of keeping everything tightly secured, as the K-series engine seems to have a knack for shaking bolts loose.
So, while the engine may be in pieces and the road to success may be paved with challenges, the team at StanceWorks remains undeterred. They are determined to find answers, make improvements, and prove that their K24-swapped Ferrari is a force to be reckoned with. Stay tuned for the next thrilling chapter in this epic automotive adventure.
