In a thrilling quest to outshine the new Civic Type R on the track, Donut's $500 Civic undergoes a jaw-dropping $50,000 metamorphosis. This isn't just any old makeover; it's a director's cut of automotive brilliance. The team kicks off the transformation with the installation of F 441 coilovers, promising improved handling and agility. Control arm upgrades with spherical bushings follow, eliminating deflection and enhancing suspension geometry for optimal cornering performance.
But the upgrades don't stop there. Cusco's strut brace is added to prevent flexing during hard cornering, ensuring the Civic stays planted and nimble through every twist and turn. The rear sway bar addition not only reinforces the subframe but also provides a platform for mounting a sway bar, allowing for precise handling adjustments. Spoon brakes, known for their top-notch quality, are installed to tackle brake fade head-on, delivering consistent stopping power and heat dissipation for high-performance driving.
The rear of the Civic sees a significant overhaul as drum brakes are replaced with disc brakes for weight savings and improved braking capability. A new proportioning valve from an Integra ensures the right balance of brake power between the front and rear, essential for optimal braking performance. To complete the transformation, wheels and tires from a Miata are fitted, adding a touch of style to the aggressive look of the Civic. With these upgrades in place, the $500 Civic is poised to take on the track with newfound confidence and prowess, ready to show the new Civic Type R what true performance is all about.
