Throtl takes their rear-wheel drive Honda Civic, aptly named "The Freak," to the Streets of Willow for the Grid Life event. This car is a true beast, built from the ground up with custom suspension, drivetrain, and all the bells and whistles needed to make it a track monster. It's been a long time coming, but today is the day they finally get to put this freakish creation to the test.
But wait, what's this? They realize that the front axles are missing! How could they overlook such a crucial component? After a quick fix, they're back on track, ready to unleash the power of The Freak. With stickers proudly representing San Diego, they hit the streets and install the Hybrid Racing CH shift kit for that extra oomph.
Time for some time attack action, but alas, the car is not getting up to temperature and is capping at 4500 RPM. A small setback, but they send it back out for another lap, determined to push the limits. Unfortunately, they encounter a little mishap, veering off track and causing some damage to the front lip, bumper, and fender. But hey, that's the price you pay for pushing the boundaries of speed and performance.
Undeterred, they quickly fix up the car, making sure everything is in working order. They adjust the camber and get back on track, ready to show what The Freak is truly capable of. And boy, does it deliver! The car handles like a dream, providing an exhilarating experience for the driver. The feedback on the steering wheel may not be perfect, but that doesn't stop them from having a blast.
With the track session over, they head to the skid pad for some drifting fun. Smoke fills the air as The Freak shows off its impressive drifting skills. It's hard to believe that this is just a Civic, but Throtl has managed to turn it into something truly extraordinary.
Despite a few hiccups along the way, the day at the Streets of Willow was a rollercoaster of excitement. Throtl thanks Sonoco Race Fuels for the opportunity and looks forward to future events where they can continue to push the limits with The Freak.
