In the thrilling second day of Rocky Mountain Race Week 2.0, the 1320video team embarked on a challenging journey from Pueblo to Carney. But as is often the case with these epic road trips, it wasn't all smooth sailing. Racers faced numerous hurdles along the way, with breakdowns and mechanical issues plaguing their progress.
One unfortunate racer experienced a troubling loss of oil pressure in their pickup truck. With the team suspecting that non-bypassed oil filters were to blame, they hastily replaced them in a bid to rectify the situation. Another racer found themselves in a precarious situation when their alternator overheated, causing the fan to stop running and resulting in a loss of antifreeze. Stranded in the middle of nowhere, they faced the daunting task of finding a solution with no help in sight.
But it wasn't just the racers who faced challenges on this eventful day. The 1320video team encountered a broken-down International truck, which was suffering from blow-by due to the relentless wind. Despite regular maintenance, the truck's catch can was filling up every 50 to 100 miles, causing concern for the team. However, they remained undeterred, determined to push through and reach their destination.
Amidst the setbacks, the team also had the opportunity to meet enthusiastic fans along the way. From a local Subway employee who eagerly awaited the racers' arrival to a Corvette owner who shared his love for side pipes, the camaraderie and excitement of the event were palpable. The team made stops at various checkpoints, including the Buffalo Bill Cultural Center and an old Sinclair gas station, soaking in the unique sights and experiences that only a road trip like this can offer.
