In this rip-roaring episode from the Larry Chen channel, we meet Chris, a man who has taken his love for cars to the extreme. He's brought not one, but two jaw-dropping machines to the 2023 SEMA show, and boy, are they a sight to behold. This is a story of evolution, of a man who started off modding cars as a teenager and ended up building his own creations from scratch. It all began with a 70 Mustang that he showcased at the Toyo booth in 2019. Little did he know that it would catapult him into the world of car building and earn him a GT40 order. And that's where the madness truly began.
With a GT40 in his possession, Chris couldn't resist the urge to tinker and modify. He didn't just settle for a motor and a transmission; he went all out, redesigning the headlights, the tail lights, and even giving it a widebody treatment that had never been seen before. The result? A car that caused a stir at SEMA in 2021 and left everyone clamoring for more. And that's when Chris realized he had something special on his hands.
Fuelled by his success and armed with retirement money, Chris decided to open his own shop and assemble a team. The goal? To build the coolest cars they could imagine, without the constraints of customer demands or budgets. And that's how the Galaxy and the Mustang came to be. These two beauties are the very first cars Chris built with a team, and they are a testament to the power of collaboration.
Let's start with the Galaxy, a car close to Chris's heart. Inspired by his dad's favorite car, Chris set out to create a full track car out of a Galaxy. But here's the twist: nobody makes a race chassis for a Galaxy. Undeterred, Chris enlisted the help of Ron Sutton, a master in designing custom race chassis. Together, they created a masterpiece. The Galaxy now boasts a full race chassis, a 526 cubic inch, naturally aspirated engine, and a decoupled three-link suspension. It's a beast on the track, with 700+ horsepower and a 50/50 weight balance. But it's not just about performance; Chris wanted to retain the essence of the Galaxy, so he kept the original trim and even designed his own turbine-inspired tail lights.
Now, let's turn our attention to the Mustang. This widebody GT40 is a true head-turner. Chris didn't just want to build a fast car; he wanted to build a car that breaks the internet. And boy, did he succeed. With its bold design, aggressive stance, and attention to detail, this Mustang is a force to be reckoned with. It features a 526 cubic inch, naturally aspirated engine, a custom race chassis, and a decoupled three-link suspension. It's a car that demands attention and commands respect.
What sets these builds apart is not just the performance or the design, but the passion and dedication that went into creating them. Chris and his team poured their hearts and souls into these machines, and the result is nothing short of extraordinary. These cars are a testament to the power of chasing your dreams, pushing boundaries, and never settling for mediocrity. They are a celebration of the joy and excitement that cars bring to our lives. So buckle up, because this is just the beginning of Chris's car-building journey, and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
