In this episode of the MotorTrend Channel, the intrepid team embarks on a quest to revive a 1964 Ford Galaxy in the frosty state of Michigan. This classic car, with its straight six engine and manual transmission, has been languishing off the road for years. But fear not, for the guys are determined to breathe new life into this forgotten gem.
Their journey begins with a thorough examination of the car's trunk, where they stumble upon a treasure trove of engine parts and accessories. The interior, described as a perplexing blend of blue and warm raisins, holds its own peculiar charm. However, their excitement is dampened when they discover that the engine block is cracked, leaking rust water like a sorrowful tear. Undeterred, they manage to coax the engine into a brief moment of life, despite its sorry state.
With their sights set on getting the car back on the road, the team sets to work on a temporary fuel system and tests the clutch. They encounter a few hiccups along the way, such as power and brake issues, but eventually succeed in maneuvering the car into the workshop. Alas, their hopes are dashed as they realize the engine is in dire shape and not performing up to par.
But fear not, for salvation arrives in the form of a donor engine, making its way from Ohio. With the help of a skilled fabricator, the team removes the old engine and prepares the new one for installation. They tackle various challenges, from clutch complications to shift linkage woes, but their determination knows no bounds. To give the straight six engine a much-needed boost, they install a header, custom exhaust, dual Webers, and a Clifford intake.
After a laborious process, the team triumphantly reunites the car with its revitalized heart. The Ford Galaxy, once forgotten and forlorn, now roars back to life, ready to conquer the open road once more. This tale of automotive resurrection is a testament to the team's unwavering dedication and their unrelenting pursuit of automotive excellence.
