Hoovies Garage has made yet another interesting purchase, this time acquiring a 1946 Chrysler Town and Country Woody convertible. This car, which looks like it could belong to a top-level government official, has been sitting in a museum for a staggering 20 years. But that hasn't deterred the team from attempting to drive it 30 miles to the car wizard for some much-needed recommissioning. The Woody still runs and drives nicely, but there are some issues to address, like the old and blocked-off tires that cause some shaking at highway speeds. There are also leaks and other problems that need attention.
But that's not all! In a twist of fate, the team's 1949 Cadillac Fastback also decided to break down on them. It refused to start and wasn't getting any fuel. So, they had to tow it to the car wizard as well. And if that wasn't enough, the Cadillac El Dorado experienced a major failure shortly after leaving the car wizard's parking lot. It threw off its main belt, leaving our heroes to limp it back home. However, there is some good news on that front, as it turns out the issue was something simple and easily fixable.
Now, back to the Woody. This car, which has the aura of a presidential vehicle, has been preserved in remarkable condition. The wood, believed to be original, has been refinished and looks stunning. Under the hood, there's a straight-eight engine that gives it that classic, old-school charm. The car features a fluid drive semi-automatic transmission, an innovative system for its time. And despite its age, the Woody still has some tricks up its sleeve, like an electric power top that actually works!
On the road, the team notices a few quirks, like the brakes pulling hard when applied and some sketchiness at higher speeds. But overall, the car handles surprisingly well. The car wizard inspects the engine bay and finds some leaks and wiring issues that need attention. The radiator is also leaking antifreeze, and there's an exhaust leak that needs fixing. Despite these challenges, the team remains optimistic as they know the car wizard will work his magic and bring this Woody back to its former glory.
