In this episode of throtl, the team is on a mission to unleash the full potential of their 600 horsepower SR20 engine in the humble $300 Nissan 300ZX. The engine bay is missing crucial components needed to bring this powerhouse to life, starting with fitting fuel injectors into the rail and adding necessary fittings under the intake manifold. With meticulous attention to detail, they work on the oil system, strategically placing a gry oil filter relocation kit behind the front bumper for optimal functionality.
Despite a setback involving a cracked transmission case, the team showcases their resourcefulness by combining parts from two transmissions to create a custom setup that perfectly aligns the SR20 engine with the 300ZX. The installation process continues with the use of a masw works Billet adapter plate and an action clutch kit, ensuring a seamless integration of the transmission into the vehicle. As they progress, the focus shifts to the battery location kit, where they secure the battery in the back and expertly run wires to the front for the starter, demonstrating their commitment to precision and performance.
With critical steps completed, such as mounting the battery bracket and running essential wires for power and ground, the team is one step closer to hearing the roar of the SR20 engine in the 300ZX. While awaiting the arrival of remaining parts, including the ECU, they remain determined to finalize the wiring and set the stage for the engine's ignition. The throtl crew's dedication to craftsmanship and problem-solving shines through as they push forward towards the thrilling moment when the 300ZX comes to life with the powerful SR20 engine under its hood.
