In this episode of Rich Rebuilds, our host takes on the challenge of restoring a classic 1969 Mini Cooper. Now, you might be thinking, "Why bother with all that hard work when you could just swap in a modern engine?" But not our host, oh no. He wants to make power the old-fashioned way, struggling to squeeze out a measly 100 horsepower from the original engine. And to make things even more interesting, he plans to add a turbo kit. Now that's dedication!
But before the restoration can begin, the team faces the daunting task of lifting the car onto a stand. With the help of a forklift, they manage to hoist the Mini Cooper up high, ready for some serious work. As they start dismantling the car, they uncover a few surprises, like cigarettes and a mysterious speaker hole. It seems the previous owner had some interesting modifications in mind.
Once the interior is stripped, the team assesses the condition of the car. There's some rust and damage that needs to be addressed, but overall, it's not too bad for a classic car of this age. The plan is to repaint the car and replace various components, including gaskets, the fuel system, and the cooling system. They also discuss the leaking transmission and the need to fix the shifter and axles.
With the restoration well underway, our host and his team are excited about the progress they've made so far. They can't wait to see the finished result and take this classic Mini Cooper out for a spin. It's a labor of love, and they're determined to bring this old beauty back to its former glory. Stay tuned for more updates on this epic restoration project!
