In this new episode of Hagerty's "Will It Run?" series, David pays a visit to Jeff's house to get a closer look at a marvelous 1949 F1 pickup truck. Now, this ain't your typical northern Michigan truck, folks. No, sir! This beauty is still intact, not a speck of rust in sight. Jeff spills the beans on how his friend and client, John, was on the hunt for a '49 F1 because that's the year he was born. Lo and behold, after some searching, they stumbled upon this gem on Facebook Marketplace all the way down in Alabama. It had been sitting in a barn for who knows how long, but boy, oh boy, is it a sight to behold.

Jeff proudly boasts that this truck is one of the most original and complete ones he's ever laid his eyes on. The wheels, my friends, are the very same ones that rolled out of the factory all those years ago. Just take a peek under those hubcaps, and you'll find the Barcelona blue paint still shining through. And let's not forget about the operator's manuals neatly tucked away in the glove box. But what really caught my attention is that those door handles, they don't sag one bit. Now, that's attention to detail!

But enough chit-chat, it's time to get this bad boy roaring. The team rolls up their sleeves and gets to work. They fiddle with some wires that someone attempted to clean up but didn't bother heat shrinking them properly. Oh well, at least the truck still turns over. Now, it's time to bring it inside and really put it to the test. Jeff has a plan, you see. He wants to check the inspection cover on the oil pan to ensure the pump screen is clear. And what do you know? It's completely clogged! But Jeff's not one to back down from a challenge. He cleans it up and adds some fresh oil, but there's still a problem. Three quarts, four quarts, it's like the oil is playing hide-and-seek. Jeff suspects there's a whole lot of sludge lurking in the lifter valley, causing this oil mystery.

But fear not, my fellow petrolheads, for Jeff has a trick up his sleeve. He whips out a borescope, courtesy of Teslong, to delve deep into the intake valley and uncover the truth. And let me tell you, this camera is a game-changer! With its help, they spot sediment in the sediment bulb and notice some wear on the fuel pump push rod. But that's not all, folks. They stumble upon an extension cord snaking through the firewall, a clear indication that this truck has seen some serious farm duty. It's a testament to the truck's ruggedness and versatility.
