In this thrilling episode of B is for Build, the team embarks on the monumental task of assembling their pontoon yacht project. With a reckless start involving a wild spree with the company credit card, they find themselves with six pontoons to wrangle. Cutting and welding like mad scientists, they create an ultra-long pontoon setup with a hot tub enclosure that defies all norms. The focus of this episode? The intricate process of attaching every element with precision and finesse.
Amidst the quiet hum of the weekend shift, our intrepid builders dive headfirst into the challenge. Armed with schematics and measuring tapes, they meticulously calculate every dimension to ensure a perfect fit. However, rough construction and mismatched hole placements throw a spanner in the works, requiring custom drilling and careful adjustments. Despite setbacks, the team forges ahead, bolting and welding mounts to create a solid foundation for the pontoon yacht.
As the project progresses, the team strategically selects between c channel and square tubing for the deck stringers, optimizing rigidity where needed most. With a keen eye for detail, they place the rigid supports strategically around the hot tub box, ensuring structural integrity. Math becomes their ally as they methodically build supports for the hot tub box, test-fitting each piece for precision. By the end of the episode, the hot tub stands proudly, supported by a network of aluminum stringers, marking a significant milestone in the pontoon yacht's construction.
