Introducing the EPA, America's first production solar car! Aptera claims to have finally cracked the code on solar-powered vehicles, and today we're putting this futuristic spaceship of a car through its paces. With its sleek design and aerodynamic influence, the EPA looks like a metal bird ready to take flight. The black exterior not only attracts attention, but it also harnesses the power of the sun to charge its batteries. And let me tell you, this car means business.
Getting into the EPA is an adventure in itself. With its unique entry system and spacious interior, it's a comfortable ride once you're settled in. The sight lines are racecar-like, giving you that immersive experience. But what really caught my attention were the pedals made out of skateboards. Aptera even plans to have a skateboard recycling program. Talk about cool!
Now, this is a pre-production model, so not everything we see here will make it into the final product. However, the screens, steering wheel, and seats are all expected to be part of the production model. And let me tell you, I'm thoroughly impressed with what I'm seeing so far. The EPA feels adequately futuristic and comfortable, with the only downside being the large half window pillar. But hey, you can't have it all, can you?
But let's get to the heart of the matter: how does it drive? Well, the EPA not only looks the part, but it also delivers on performance. With its solar-powered capabilities, it's extremely efficient, gaining up to 5 miles per hour of distance when in the sun, whether you're cruising or stationary. And don't worry, even when the sun disappears, the car won't die on you. It can be charged at any charging station or with a standard outlet. Aptera claims the production model will have a whopping 1,000 miles of range, making it a force to be reckoned with.
Safety is always a concern, especially with three-wheel vehicles. But the EPA exceeds safety standards with dual airbags and a composite shell that's stronger than steel. The aerodynamics of having one wheel in the rear also contribute to its stability. It's like being in a Vietnam-era helicopter, with the curved windshield adding to the overall experience. And let's not forget the EPA's impressive performance, with half the roll resistance of a Tesla Model 3.
All in all, the EPA is a remarkable achievement from Aptera. This pre-production model is already impressive, and I can only imagine how much better the final product will be. With a top speed of 101 mph and a 0 to 60 time of just 4 seconds, it's no slouch in the performance department. And with over 40,000 pre-orders, it seems like the public is ready for a solar-powered revolution. So, if you're looking for a futuristic, efficient, and stylish ride, the EPA might just be the car for you. The future is bright, my friends, and it's powered by the sun.
