The Crusher Impala, a 1969 Chevy Impala, has undergone a remarkable transformation under the skilled hands of the MotorTrend Channel team. Initially purchased to impress the guys from Mighty Car Mods, this beast of a car has come a long way. Despite its humble beginnings, the team has gradually improved its performance, making it a force to be reckoned with.
One of the standout features of The Crusher Impala is its ability to perform awe-inspiring burnouts and effortlessly cruise down the highway at 75 mph. However, it hasn't been without its fair share of problems. The transmission, in particular, has been a thorn in their side. But the team is determined to fix it and get this mighty machine back on the drag strip.
With their sleeves rolled up, the team dives into the task at hand. They start by addressing the transmission's shifting issues, focusing on the vacuum modulator. After replacing it with a new one, they proceed to inspect the filter, which reveals some concerning findings. Metal corations in the filter body indicate potential wear and tear on the transmission.
Undeterred, they press on, reinstalling the governor and hoping for the best. With fluid topped up and everything seemingly in order, it's time for the ultimate test: a thrilling ride on the drag strip. The first run encounters a hiccup with the shifting, but they quickly diagnose and rectify the problem. Finally, they achieve a 10-second time slip, a long-awaited milestone for The Crusher Impala.
With their goal accomplished, the team continues to push the car's limits, making more runs and shaving off precious seconds. The car's performance steadily improves, leaving the team with a sense of pride and accomplishment. They can now bask in the glory of a job well done, knowing that The Crusher Impala is a true force to be reckoned with on the road.
