The CL55 AMG is a beast of a car, worth a staggering $170,000 to $180,000 back in 2003. And let me tell you, it's got some strange quirks that make it worth every penny. First off, there's no B-pillar, which means when you open the doors, you have to wait for the windows to crack and release the pressure inside. It's like a little dance you have to do just to get in the damn thing. But once you're inside, you're greeted with a manual that's thicker than a calculus textbook. They even give you cheat sheets, as if the manual wasn't already overwhelming enough. It's like they want you to know every single detail about this car. And let me tell you, it's a lot to take in.
But that's not all. This car has not one, but two glove boxes. Yes, you heard that right. Two glove boxes. And if that's not enough storage for you, there's even a first aid kit tucked away somewhere. I mean, who needs that much space for gloves and bandages? But hey, at least they've got you covered in case of an emergency.
Now let's talk about the gas cap. It's a simple half turn to unlock and remove it. None of that click-click-click nonsense. And they even provide you with a little holder to put the cap in. It's the little things, you know? And speaking of little things, the trunk has not one, but two buttons to open it. I guess they really wanted to make sure you can access your stuff without any hassle.
Inside the car, you'll find some interesting features. The driver's seat has massage controls, although I have to say, it's more like a gentle poke than a proper massage. But hey, it's better than nothing. And let's not forget about the headlight washers. Now, I know we don't really use those in the United States, but in Europe, they're quite popular. I mean, who wouldn't want their headlights to be squeaky clean?
All in all, the CL55 AMG is a unique and luxurious car with its fair share of quirks. From the window cracking dance to the double glove boxes, it's clear that Mercedes went all out with this one. And if you're lucky enough to win it, well, you'll be in for quite the ride.
