In this thrilling episode from the MotorTrend Channel, the team embarks on an audacious mission to transform a 91 Ford Mustang into a formidable budget no prep drag racing machine. Their formidable adversary? None other than Lyle Barnett and his monstrous Mustang, Beer Money, boasting a staggering 1500 horsepower. It's a David versus Goliath battle, and the team knows they're up against insurmountable odds. But that won't stop them from giving it their all.

With a tour of the Mustang, we get a glimpse of the modifications that have been made to this 91 Ford Mustang. It's clear that this car means business. From the aftermarket suspension components to the upgraded radiator, this Mustang is built for speed. But what about the engine? Well, it seems that a small block Ford was previously installed, and now it's time to take it to the next level.

Safety is of utmost importance, and the team has enlisted the skills of their buddy Mike Larel to install an 850 C cage. This ensures that they meet the safety standards required for their drag racing ambitions. But they're not stopping there. They've even added extra bars to the cage for future endeavors. It's a cage that not only offers protection but also sets them up for some serious speed.

As they delve deeper into the project, we see the Holly EFI already in place, but there's still some wiring to be done. The team is also making sure they have the right fuel setup for their E85 fuel of choice. With a 15g fuel cell tucked away in the spare tire well, they're ready to feed their hungry engine. And speaking of engines, they have a plan to go head-to-head with Beer Money using a naturally aspirated all-aluminum 5.3 engine. This will serve as a benchmark for their future endeavors with a procharger.

The team works tirelessly to mount the engine and transmission, install the headers, and tackle the wiring. It's a race against time to get everything ready for the big showdown. And when the moment of truth arrives, they put their creation to the test. The car performs admirably, going straight and true. It's a promising start, but they know they have a long way to go. With the first race behind them, they're ready to add some serious boost and take on Beer Money once again. It's a battle of horsepower and determination, and the team is ready to give it their all.
