In this exhilarating episode of carwow, the legendary Matt Watson takes us on a heart-pounding journey as he pits two automotive icons against each other in a thrilling standing quarter-mile drag race. Brace yourselves, ladies and gentlemen, as the mighty Bugatti EB 110 goes head-to-head with the iconic Ferrari F40.

The Bugatti, a true beast from 1994, boasts a monstrous 3.5L quad-turbo V12 engine, churning out a jaw-dropping 560 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque. With power sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, this heavyweight machine weighs in at a hefty 1,690 kilos. Back in the day, it carried a price tag of £285,000, but now it's valued at a staggering £1.5 million. Thanks to the Peterson Automotive Museum, Matt gets the chance to unleash this beast on the drag strip.

On the other side, we have the legendary Ferrari F40, a masterpiece from 1991. Equipped with a 2.9L twin-turbo V8 engine, it may be down on power compared to the Bugatti, with 480 horsepower and 580 Nm of torque, but it compensates with its lightweight construction, tipping the scales at 1,350 kilos. With power delivered exclusively to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox, this Italian stallion was worth £163,000 back in the day, but now commands a staggering £2 million price tag.

The race is on, and the tension is palpable. Both cars launch off the line with blistering speed, but it is the Ferrari that edges ahead, crossing the finish line first. However, it's not over yet. Matt decides to spice things up by replacing the Bugatti with a Mark 1 Dodge Viper, a prototype from 1991. With an 8L V10 engine producing 400 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque, this American beast proves to be a worthy contender. In a thrilling showdown, the Viper roars to victory, leaving the Ferrari in its dust.

But that's not all. Matt and Chris from the caretakers collection decide to settle the score with a rolling race and a brake test. The Dodge Viper once again asserts its dominance, leaving the Ferrari trailing behind. It's a resounding victory for the American muscle.

As the smoke clears and the adrenaline subsides, we can't help but applaud the sheer power and performance of these automotive legends. A huge thank you to the Peterson Automotive Museum and the caretakers collection for lending these incredible machines for this epic showdown.
