In this thrilling episode of B is for Build, the team embarks on a daring mission to create the ultimate Shelby GT500 tribute car. With just 12 days until the prestigious SEMA event, they are up against the clock. But fear not, for these intrepid builders are confident that they can conquer any challenge that comes their way.
In a previous installment, they stripped down a 2019 Ford Mustang GT to its bare bones, leaving nothing but a skateboard chassis. Then, with the precision of a surgeon, they skillfully transplanted the body panels of a 1967 Mustang onto the modern frame. The result? A mesmerizing fusion of classic and contemporary automotive design.
Now, in this adrenaline-fueled episode, the team's focus is on the all-important test drive. But before they can hit the road, they must tackle the daunting task of rewiring the entire vehicle. With the body swap complete, the electronics need to be reconfigured to accommodate the new vintage body. Remote door unlock, trunk pop, and other modern features must be seamlessly integrated into the retro-inspired interior.
As the team meticulously reconnects the wiring harnesses and ensures that the grounds are properly established, anticipation builds. Will the car come to life once again? Will the tail lights illuminate with their full glory? With bated breath, they power on the car, and to their delight, the electronics spring back to life. The door sensors detect when the doors are opened and closed, and the trunk pops open with a satisfying click.
But the journey doesn't end there. The team encounters a few hiccups along the way, such as a misaligned rear bumper and a gap between the bumper and the body. Undeterred, they tackle these issues head-on, welding in filler plates and applying seam sealer to achieve that flawless finish.
With each passing moment, the Shelby GT500 tribute car takes shape, exuding an aura of power and elegance. The Corbeau seats, carefully selected to complement the classic aesthetic, are bolted into place, adding a touch of luxury to the interior. The team's determination and attention to detail are evident in every aspect of the build.
As the episode draws to a close, the team reflects on their progress and the challenges that lie ahead. The countdown to SEMA continues, and with every passing day, the anticipation grows. Will they meet their deadline? Will the Shelby GT500 tribute car make its grand debut at the prestigious event? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain: the B is for Build team is on the brink of creating something truly extraordinary.
