Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on the new BMW i7 M70! It's like the Apple iPhone 15 Pro of the car world - sleek, powerful, and oh-so-expensive. In this video, the carwow team takes us through all the upgrades this beast has to offer. Brace yourselves!
Under the massive bonnet lies a high-performance electric motor, pumping out a whopping 660 horsepower. That's 116 horsepower more than the standard i760, but let's not get too carried away comparing it to the likes of the AMG EQS 53 or the Tesla Model S Plaid. The M70 can go from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 3.3 seconds, making it quick, but not quite Tesla-fast.
To handle all that power, BMW has made some serious upgrades. The M70 is equipped with M performance brakes, retuned suspension with M sport suspension, and rear-wheel steering for added agility and stability. They've even thrown in some extra bracing and active anti-roll bars to keep this beast in check. And let's not forget the lighter alloy wheels and sporty tires for that extra oomph.
But does all this fancy stuff translate into a thrilling driving experience? Well, the carwow team took it for a spin on some twisty Portuguese roads, and while it handles well for its size, it doesn't quite reach the level of a true M performance car. The power is there, but the handling and chassis upgrades just don't elevate it enough. It's competent, but not mind-blowing.
So, why would you choose the M70 over the standard i7? Simple - for the added performance. And boy, does it deliver! The acceleration is neck-snapping, almost uncomfortable. But here's the question: do you really need that kind of performance in a luxury limousine? It's a valid point to consider.
In terms of looks, the M70 gets some sporty exterior upgrades like a black grille, M badging, and 21-inch alloy wheels. Inside, you'll find M upgrades like a flat-bottomed M sports steering wheel, M badging, and optional carbon fiber trim. It's a comfortable and spacious interior, with plenty of luxury options to choose from.
But there are a few downsides to the M70. It's a heavyweight, tipping the scales at 2.7 tons. And if you're looking for a full vegan interior, you're out of luck - it's not available on the M70. Plus, with a starting price of £61,000, it's not exactly cheap. And let's not forget the depreciation that comes with large luxury BMWs.
All in all, the BMW i7 M70 is a powerful, stylish, and expensive machine. It offers added performance and some sporty design elements, but whether it's worth the extra cost is up to you. It's a beast on the road, but it may not be the ultimate driving experience you're looking for.
