Audi Q8 e-tron: A Fully Electric SUV with Improved Range and Modernized Styling

The Audi Q8 e-tron, the latest addition to the electric SUV market, is the subject of Doug DeMuro's latest review on his channel, Cars and Bids. This fully electric luxury SUV aims to address the limitations of its predecessor, the Audi e-tron SUV, by offering a larger battery and improved range. With a top configuration that provides around 300 miles of range, the Q8 e-tron competes favorably with other luxury electric SUVs in terms of its electric capabilities. However, its performance remains relatively modest, with about 355 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time in the low 5-second range.
One interesting feature of the Q8 e-tron is its dual charge ports, located on both the passenger and driver sides of the vehicle. This unique design allows for easier access to charging, eliminating the need to maneuver cables over the hood. In terms of aesthetics, the Q8 e-tron has undergone some style changes, including a new body-colored grille, a two-dimensional Audi logo, and a front light bar that illuminates when the lights are on. These updates distinguish the Q8 e-tron from its predecessor and give it a more modern and futuristic look.
Inside the Q8 e-tron, there are two center screens, with the lower screen primarily dedicated to climate controls. The upper screen is praised for its intuitiveness and responsiveness, although some find it too small to display all the necessary information effectively. The gauge cluster screen behind the steering wheel is highly configurable, allowing drivers to customize the display according to their preferences. The interior of the Q8 e-tron is generally of high quality, although it lacks the distinctive and unique elements found in some rival models.
In terms of practicality, the Q8 e-tron sportback offers a surprisingly roomy back seat, with ample knee room, legroom, and headroom. Rear passengers also benefit from features such as rear seat climate controls, USB-C ports, and a built-in rear sunshade. However, the sportback design does compromise vertical cargo space, although the wide and flat cargo area should still be sufficient for most needs. Overall, the Q8 e-tron offers a fine driving experience but lacks the excitement and standout features that make some of its competitors more compelling choices in the luxury electric SUV market.
