Toyota and Lexus have been producing some of the most reliable engines in the automotive industry for decades. From the Lexus LFA V10 engine to the 4AGE inline four, these engines have been hailed as some of the best ever made. Scotty Kilmer takes a look at five of the most reliable engines ever made by Toyota and Lexus.
The Lexus LFA V10 engine, co-developed with Yamaha Motor, is one of the greatest V10 engines of all time. It was designed to be lightweight and advanced, with a dual stage variable intake manifold and a 72 degree angle between two banks of cylinders for better balance. It was also one of the first Japanese mass-produced engines with dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder.
The 4AGE engine was first released in 1983 and became one of the first five valve per cylinder engines ever made when the 20 valve silver top was produced in 1991. It was small, light, and nimble, and powered cars like the Toyota Corolla AE86, Celica, Corona, and Sprinter. It saw five generations before being discontinued in 2000.
Both the Lexus LFA V10 and the 4AGE engine have been praised for their reliability and performance. Scotty Kilmer has taken a look at these two engines, as well as three other reliable engines made by Toyota and Lexus, to give viewers an inside look into the automotive technology that has made these engines so successful.
