2024 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum Review: Comfort and Convenience vs. Lackluster Looks

The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum is a far cry from the rugged and eye-catching Rock Creek version. In fact, it looks like just another ordinary Nissan on the road. The color, touted as green, is more like a dark shade of blue that fails to make a lasting impression. It's a shame, really, because the Rock Creek had those cool belock style wheels that added a touch of personality. But here, we're left with the same old, boring Nissan wheels.
However, it's not all disappointment. The Pathfinder Platinum does offer some comfort and convenience. The seats are incredibly comfortable, making long drives a breeze. The middle row consists of captain's chairs, which may not be as cozy as the front seats but still get the job done. And let's not forget about the third row, which provides enough space for a small dog. It's a practical choice for those with furry friends.
In terms of features, the Pathfinder Platinum has some notable additions. The built-in sunroof and rear climate controls are definite pluses. The regular plug in the back is a convenient feature for charging devices or even using a diaper changer on the go. And the automatic trunk, complete with lock to close and kick to open, adds a touch of luxury to daily life. Plus, with a towing capacity of up to 6,000 lbs, this SUV is ready for some serious hauling.
However, not everything is perfect with the Pathfinder Platinum. The 9-speed automatic transmission can be sluggish when it comes to downshifting, leading to some frustrating moments on the road. And let's not forget about the start-stop system, which takes its sweet time to engage and disengage. It's enough to make you question its purpose.
But perhaps the most glaring issue is the windshield. When faced with oncoming headlights, the windshield causes double vision, making it a headache-inducing experience. It's a flaw that should have been addressed before selling this car to unsuspecting customers. Overall, while the Pathfinder Platinum has its merits, it falls short in some key areas, leaving us longing for the more rugged and distinctive Rock Creek version.
