2024 Honda Prologue Review: Is Honda's First EV Worth the Price?

Introducing the 2024 Honda Prologue, a new electric crossover that's as exciting as a damp sponge. It's not the fastest, not the cheapest, and definitely not the best in its class. Honda's first attempt at a mass-market EV, co-developed with General Motors, seems like a half-hearted effort to keep up with the cool kids. With a base model starting at $49,000, 212 horsepower, and a 296-mile range, it's outshined by the Tesla Model Y in every aspect - cheaper, faster, and more range. It's like showing up to a drag race with a lawnmower.
The Prologue's exterior styling tries to blend in with the Honda family, but it's like putting lipstick on a pig. While the interior offers some tech perks like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, it's a mishmash of confusing controls that even a rocket scientist would struggle to figure out. The General Motors influence is as clear as day, with odd placements for basic functions like windshield wipers and climate controls. It's like they let a toddler loose in the design department.
Despite the Prologue's attempt to lure in loyal Honda customers, the interior quality falls flat like a deflated tire. For $60,000, you'd expect more than just a sea of cheap plastic and lackluster materials. The back seat may offer decent space, but it's like sitting in a budget airline - cramped and uncomfortable. Honda's strategy of releasing this lackluster EV as a placeholder until they come up with something better is like serving a soggy sandwich while promising a gourmet meal later. In the world of electric crossovers, the Honda Prologue is like bringing a butter knife to a gunfight.
