In this episode of TheSmokingTire, we delve into the world of trucks, specifically the 2024 Colorado ZR2 Bison and the 2024 Silverado 2500 HD ZR2. Now, these trucks may seem similar at first glance, but they have their own unique characteristics that set them apart. Let's start with the Colorado ZR2 Bison, a feisty little beast that's all about adventure and off-roading. It's smaller, lighter, and more manageable than its bigger brother, making it a nimble trail runner that can take on the likes of the Tacoma and the Ranger Raptor. With launch control and a chassis engineer who thought 50 mph whoops were a good idea, this truck is ready to fly.

Now, onto the Silverado 2500 HD ZR2, a formidable-looking brick of a truck that means business. It's got the clearance, suspension, and protective armor to rescue your toy should you overmonster your energy. With a choice of a gas or diesel engine, both paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, this truck is a force to be reckoned with. Opt for the Bison package, and you'll get skid plates, wheels, and steel bumpers that enhance the truck's approach and departure angles, making it even more capable off-road.

The Colorado ZR2 Bison is a beast in its own right, with some notable upgrades for the 2024 model year. It's roughly the same size as its predecessor, but the wheelbase has been extended by 3 inches. The 8-speed automatic transmission has been beefed up, and the Multimatic shocks have been moved outboard of the leaf springs for better clearance and wheel control. Under the hood, you'll find a 2.7L turbo engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, which may be slightly less than the upcoming Ranger Raptor, but it's still more than sufficient for some serious off-roading.

But what really sets the Colorado ZR2 Bison apart is the Bison package itself. For an extra $1,700, you get a host of upgrades that take this truck to the next level. The steel bumpers are slimmer, allowing for better approach and departure angles, and the taller, wider tires on new wheels provide improved traction. It also comes equipped with power locking differentials and trick hydraulic bump stops. But the real star of the show is the new larger DSSV shocks, which underwent a staggering 39 additional revisions for the Bison, fine-tuning the handling, ride comfort, and performance to perfection.

In conclusion, both the Colorado ZR2 Bison and the Silverado 2500 HD ZR2 have their own unique charms and capabilities. The Colorado ZR2 Bison is the more exciting and adventurous option, with its smaller size and impressive off-road features. On the other hand, the Silverado 2500 HD ZR2 is a beast of a truck, ready to tackle any challenge with its powerful engine and rugged design. Whichever one you choose, you're in for an exhilarating ride that will leave you craving more off-road adventures.
