In this thrilling episode of B is for Build, the team embarks on the final stage of their epic 1967 Mustang Fastback Shelby GT500 tribute build. With a 2019 Mustang GT as their starting point, they've performed some serious surgery, cutting off the entire body and replacing it with a classic 1967 Mustang Fastback body. Welding, roll cage installation, and various upgrades have transformed this modern beast into a true Shelby GT500 tribute.
But the journey is far from over. With just over 48 hours until the SEMA show, the team faces a race against time to complete the finishing touches. The car needs to be painted, but instead of risking chemical reactions and potential disasters, they opt for a high-quality wrap. This not only allows for quick color changes, but also ensures clean-looking panel joints and protects the custom fiberglass work.
To prepare for the wrap, the team sets up a makeshift paint booth, complete with EPA-compliant fan filters. The stakes are high, as overspray could damage the precious supercars nearby. With the car painted and dried, it's time to bring in the experts from Rapco to work their magic on the wrap. Meanwhile, the team dives into other tasks, such as installing a cold air intake for some serious horsepower gains and upgrading the interior with reproduction OEM paneling and a sleek Hurst short shifter.
Despite some setbacks with the paint job, the team perseveres, sanding out imperfections and pressing forward. They celebrate a personal victory as the host receives clear results from his cancer scans, providing a much-needed boost of positivity. As the wrap crew wraps up their work, the team continues to push through the night, wrapping interior pieces, upgrading the steering wheel, and fine-tuning various details.
With the SEMA show just around the corner, the team is filled with anticipation and excitement. The finish line is in sight, and they are determined to deliver a jaw-dropping, show-stopping tribute to the iconic Shelby GT500. Stay tuned for the grand reveal and witness the culmination of their hard work and dedication. This is B is for Build at its finest, where dreams become reality and automotive masterpieces are born.
