In this episode of B is for Build, the guys are tackling a monumental task: a body swap on a 1967 Mustang Fastback. But here's the twist, underneath that classic exterior lies a 2019 Mustang GT. It's a Shelby tribute car they're building for the prestigious SEMA show, but with only 14 days left until the event, they're feeling the pressure. However, they're not ones to shy away from hard work, and they're determined to catch up.
In previous episodes, they stripped the 2019 Mustang GT down to its chassis and began fitting reproduction 67 Fastback paneling. They've made progress with the doors, roof panels, and side panels, but there's still a lot to be done. In this episode, they're focusing on crucial tasks like installing wheels, tires, suspension, side skirts, and the rest of the body. They're aiming to have the whole back end completed, with tail lights, front fenders, and front bumper in place.
Before diving into the work, they take a moment to thank their sponsor, Cook Unity, a chef-to-you meal delivery service. It's clear that food is not their area of expertise, but they appreciate the convenience of having delicious meals prepared by professional chefs. After a quick lunch break, they get back to the shop and divide their tasks. Oscar is in charge of mounting the fenders, while Chris sets out to modify the rear bumper.
They initially considered using a different rear bumper, but after weighing the safety factors, they decide to stick with the OEM bumper and make some modifications. They plan to add relief cuts to allow for controlled crumpling in the event of a collision. Safety is a top priority for them, and they want to ensure that their Shelby tribute car meets the necessary standards.
As the day progresses, they continue working diligently on various aspects of the project. They make use of their newly upgraded lighting system and showcase their new camera equipment. With each passing moment, the car is taking shape, and they're getting closer to their goal of a completed Shelby GT500-inspired tribute car. Despite the challenges and the tight timeline, the team remains focused and determined to deliver a stunning vehicle for SEMA.
